Website Update 31 August 2020

 33 new narratives have been added, and 6 changed, since the last website update on 16 August. There are now a total of 13,252 detailed narratives available on the website and 21,033 people (33 new) in our database.

This update again was mainly focused on the descendants of William MOULDS, (c1710-1774), Stuart's 5th great-grandfather, who lived in Little Ponton, Lincolnshire. This covers the states of Iowa, Missouri, and Oklahoma. 

We have subscribed to http://www.newspapers.com/, the largest online newspaper archive covering 18,400+ newspapers from the 1700s-2000s. The archive currently has 608,193,142 pages. Subsequently we found a lot of new information, particularly from obituaries. 

Also included in this update is family photographs, kindly provided by Nyssa Moulds, who is Stuart's 5th cousin, once removed.

Descendants of Clarence Chester Pask

Recently independently, by sheer coincidence, we received information from two descendants of Clarence Chester Pask and his wife Daisy Ethel Pask née Sweet (known as Ethel).

In early January, we received an email from Darlene Yarger, about her grandfather Charles Raymond Pask the eldest son of Clarence. Darlene's son Rathe has a detailed tree in Ancestry, which has been of considerable help in putting the pieces together. As we were away on holiday, we did not have time to update the website with this new information. 

Last week, we were working on the website update, when surprisingly more new information came in on this same family.

On February 17, in the Pask Family History Facebook Group, Cindy Moore née Pask, the granddaughter of Clarence, posted this photograph of Clarence, and his family. Cindy's father was Kenneth Clarence Pask, the youngest son of Clarence.

Clarence Chester Pask was born on 16 June 1838 in Anwick, Lincolnshire, England. He was the son of Joseph George PASK. His parents immigrated to Ohio in 1844.

Many thanks to Darlene, and Cindy, for the wealth of information provided. The website has now been updated with Clarence's 51 descendants - however, there are many more needing additional research.

Clarence is Stuart's 4th cousin twice removed.

New Family Chart 83: Family of Michael PASZKIET born in Poland c1835

Steve Paske, from Texas, contacted us on 24 January, and provided information on his great-grandfather Michael Paszkiet who was born in Poland c1835. He immigrated to Texas, USA, where he met his wife Josepha Filuta. They married in 1868 in New Waverly, Walker County, Texas. They had seven children. The family americanized their name to PASKE.  

Steve gave us a brief synopsis of Michael's family, and Steve's line of descent from Michael. We did some extensive research - fortunately comprehensive Texan records are readily available. 

Subsequently, we have created a new family chart 83, and it contains 126 people - descendants of Michael Paske, formerly Paszkiet.

Website Update Thursday 1 October 2015

This information relates to the main Lincolnshire tree - descendants of Johannis [John] and Elizabeth Pask née Archer, who lived in Lincolnshire.

The website was updated today, Thursday 1 October 2015.

This update focuses on William & Bridget Pask née Massey who were born and married in Great Hale in 1824. They then moved to Ewerby in Lincolnshire. 

After the death of his wife Bridget, in December 1843, William immigrated to New Jersey in America, at the same time his children also moved to several places in the USA. 

This has been a very interesting couple of weeks researching this family, who resided in New Jersey, Ohio, and Indiana. We initially researched this family back in 2004/5. There is now significantly more information available on the internet - including baptism and marriage records, photographs and numerous newspaper articles from the places where they settled.  

There are currently 73 known descendants of this family. Undoubtedly this figure will double over time. 

This included two individuals that really were quite special: 

• Milton Lawrence McCall, their 2 x great-grandson, although he died in 1963, at the early age of 52, he left a lasting legacy. So much so that only this year he has been honoured. For more information read his narrative.

• Elmer Allah Burlingame, their great-grandaughter's husband. In 1898, while attending high school, he got an idea. Elmer went on to be in the fore-front of the world’s greatest inventive geniuses. Unfortunately in 1914, things began to go very wrong. For more information read his narrative.

44 new narratives have been added since the last update on 15 September 2015. There is now a total of 11,076 detailed narratives available on the website and 18,030 (45 new) people in our database.

William Jolliffe Paske

This information relates to the descendants of William Pask (c1720- ) who lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire.

Katrina Jordan has provided us additional information on the family of her 1st Cousin 4 times removed William Jolliffe Paske.

William Jolliffe PASKE was born on 5 May 1863 in Bristol. He was the son of William & Fanny Paske née Jolliffee. He married Emily Bevan, and they emigrated in 1886 to America, and he became a Minister. 

William then married Ida Olive Kline in 1888 in Nebraska. They then moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin, and East Norriton in Pennyslvania, and finally Altadena in Los Angeles where he died at the age of 80.

William and Ida had three children:

• Ralph William Paske b. 4 Jul 1889, d. 11 Dec 1943
• Charles Herbert Paske b. 2 Dec 1890, d. May 1973
• Oliver Wendall Paske b. 9 Dec 1893, d. 10 May 1935

We are in the process of including this family into our database. It would be great to hear from any of our American cousins.

Henry & Elizabeth Pask née Marshall

This information relates to the main Lincolnshire tree - descendants of Johannis [John] and Elizabeth Pask née Archer, who lived in Lincolnshire.

Yesterday we received a booklet containing a presentation created by Shirley Amos, from America. This presentation contains a significant amount of information on the family of Henry and Elizabeth Pask née Marshall who emigrated to America on RMS Abyssinia, arriving on April 22, 1872 into New York.

Henry was born on 11 March 1849 in Nocton, Lincolnshire. His wife Mary (née Marshall) was born on 31 December 1855 in Scothern, Lincolnshire. They had ten children, eight of which are shown in the above photograph.

American Cousins Obituaries

This information relates to Chart 01, one of Lincolnshire main families - William Pask (c1695-), who lived in Wellingore, Lincolnshire (Stuart's own ancestors).

Sadly, within  20 days of each other, two American cousins Lawrence Hamilton "Chic" Pask, and Marshall Roy Pask died. They were the grandchildren of Charles & Filomela PASK née Gabrielli, who immigrated to New York in 1888. See previous blog dated February 2010, titled Charles & Filomela Pask née Gabrielli.

Lawrence Hamilton "Chic" Pask, age 86, of Ridgewood, died peacefully at his home on Saturday January 21, 2012. His obituary was published in The Record/Herald News on January 23, 2012.

His cousin, Marshall Roy Pask, known to friends and family as Roy, died Friday February 10. His obituary was published in the Stamford Advocate on February 12, 2012.

Our sincere condolences to their families, and friends.

Charles & Filomela Pask née Gabrielli

This information relates to Chart 19, the descendants of William Paske, (c1695- ) who lived in Wellingore, Lincolnshire.

Back in June 2006, we established together with our long standing friend and fellow researcher, John Pask, that his great-grandfather Charles Pask (1856-1939) immigrated to New York, America. See blog titled Charles Pask.

Last week whilst searching our GRO death index transcripts for an infant's death in Chelsea, I came across the death of a Mina Gabrielli in 1887/Q3, age 0. The name Gabrielli jumped out. I recalled that Charles had married a Filomela Garbielli. I searched for corresponding birth, and found it. I hastily e-mailed John.

Subsequently John purchased the birth, and death certificate for Mina. It confirmed that her parents were Charles & Filomela Pask née Gabrielli.

Mina was born on 1 July 1887 at 27 South Parade, Chelsea. Sadly she died at the age of 6 weeks, on 15 August 1887 also at 27 South Parade, Chelsea.

John followed up and telephoned the surrounding cemeteries, and located Mina's burial at Brompton Cemetery on 19 August 1887 in Plot 137807. Unfortunately the cemetery was damaged during the World War II, and although the graves are still in tack any headstones did not survive.

Yet another piece of the jigsaw put in place. This now establishes that Charles & Filomela met at 1885-1886, and did not immigrate to America until at least late 1887.

Barbara Pask Painting

Recently I was searching the internet for the name Pask, and came across this delightful painting by Barbara Pask.

Being a cat lover, I thought this was an excellent painting and captured the look of a cat.

So I was delighted when she put it up for sale on e-bay. I snapped it up, and will receive it from Ohio in the next couple of days. It will take pride of place in the lounge.

Descendants of Henry & Elizabeth Pask née Asman

This information relates to the main Lincolnshire tree - descendants of Johannis [John] & Elizabeth Pask née Archer, who lived in Lincolnshire.

Yesterday I contacted Becky Pask, through Facebook. I don't really use Facebook, however back in June last year I was notified about the 200 Global Pask Challenge. I was browsing through the list of people who took part in the challenge, and came across Becky's name.

Becky lives in New York state. She was delighted I contacted her, and sent me a link to the Pask Family Web Home. This family had a family reunion on July 27 2008, by sheer coincidence a day after the Pask Family Gathering.

Becky and I intend to exchange information, and bring up-to-date the information on the descendants of Henry & Elizabeth Pask née Asman, who emigrated to America on RMS Abyssinia, arriving 22 April 1872. Henry was born in 1849 in Nocton, Lincolnshire.

Kenneth Richard Pask of Ohio

This information relates to Chart 32, the descendants of Joseph PASK, (1773 - ) who lived in Lincolnshire, and immigrated to Richland County, Ohio USA ,

Amanda Sue Pask, the daughter of Kenneth Richard Pask wrote to us today. She lives in Butler, DeKalb County, Indiana, USA. She has two sons Spencer and Wyatt.

Kenneth was the 3 x great-grandson of Joseph Pask who was born in 1773, and married Anne Bavin in Wellingore in Lincolnshire. After his wife Anne died in 1819, Joseph immigrated to Richland County, Ohio, America with his two sons George & Thomas. His daughter Mary joined them later.

Unfortunately although I responded to Amanda, her e-mail has bounced back as her inbox is overquota (full). I will resend it, and hope that it does not bounce next time.

Necklace of Rebecca Hodges née Pask

This information relates to the red-icon tree - descendants of Isaac PASK who lived in Llanvihangel-ystern-Llewern, Monmouthshire.


Kay Hodges wrote to us and provided a photograph of a necklace, together with a letter dated 1938, explaining the history of the necklace. Kay wrote:

"I think you will find this interesting. I have seen this necklace and held it in my hands. It is beautiful to touch and know that it belonged to My G G Grandmother Rebecca. The story is fantastic as to how many years it took to get it to Ruby Wheeler, who is a cousin of my Father".

The necklace belonged to Rebeka or Rebecca Hodges née Pask who died on 25 April 1865 at the age of 33. The necklace was given by her husband James Hodges to Alice Bailey Cottam, who immigrated to Utah, USA at the age of 11.

US Department of Veterans Affairs

Through the Guild of One-Names Studies (GOONS), I heard of an excellent source of information from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). You can search for burial locations of veterans and their family members in VA National Cemeteries, state veterans cemeteries, various other military and Department of Interior cemeteries, and for veterans buried in private cemeteries when the grave is marked with a government grave marker. There are listed:

• 11 Pask
• 28 Paske
• 1 Pasque

This information will be included in the database in the near future.

Descendants of James & Rebecca Hodges née Pask

This information relates to the red-icon tree - descendants of Isaac PASK who lived in Llanvihangel-ystern-Llewern, Monmouthshire.

In February 2006, Kay M Hodges contacted us regarding information on James & Rebecca Hodges née Pask. He has extensively researched this family and have amassed a considerable amount of additional information. At that time we in the process of moving from Germany back to the UK, and unfortunately the information was not included in the database.

James and Rebecca had five children, although only one survived. Probably the strain of losing four children in the first few months of their lives was too much for Rebecca. She was hospitialised in June 1864, and died in April 1865. She is buried together with her parents Isaac & Elizabeth Pask née Stephens in Llanvaches, Monmouthshire.

James, and Rebecca, were baptised into the LDS church by Rebecca's father Isaac Pask on 11 August 1850. On 17 March 1851 James was ordained. After Rebecca's death in 1865, James decided to immigrate to Utah. Unfortunately during the journey to Salt Lake Valley James died on 25 September 1866 near Farson, Wyoming, America, at the age of 38.

Their eldest and only surviving son James in 1871 immigrated to Utah, where he later married Emma Steddar. James died on 6 September 1910 in Lewiston, Utah, America, at the age of 59.
