Website Update 3 November 2018

The website was updated 3 November 2018. 46 new narratives have been added, and 260 changed, since the last website update on 2 September 2018. There are now a total of 12,555 detailed narratives available on the website and 20,131 people (60 new) in our database.

The focus of this website update was to identify those men who were killed in action in World War I, and II - Lest we forget. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) website showed that there were 52 PASK(E) men. These are now indicated with a poppy icon against their name.

In addition, more information was kindly provided by Vickie Eggers, on the German family Chart 82: Herman PASKE & his wife Johanna LERISUS, whose descendants immigrated to Wisconsin, USA. This also coincided with an obituary,
kindly transcribed by Denise Grant, that included other members of this PASKE family. There is a lot more on this family, and we will endeavour to include this information in the near future.

Dorothy Gwendoline Pask (1925-2017)

With the deepest regret, we have to advise that Dorothy Pask, from Beckenham, died on 31 December 2017.

She had been ill for several months, and died in Coloma Court Care Home, Layhams Road, West Wickham, Kent. Her funeral service took place on 5 February 2018.

Dorothy was the 6th great-granddaughter of John & Mirabel Pask née Sparrow. She was the daughter of William John Pask, and Nellie May Woods.

Dorothy was a keen family historian and provided a considerable amount of information on the descendants of John & Mirabel Pask née Sparrow. She was very well known with researchers of this Suffolk family.

We had the pleasure of meeting her several times. She attended the Pask Family Gathering in Whepstead, Suffolk on 26 July, 2008.

We are in touch with her niece, Laura, who lives in Canada. We are sure you will join us in passing our deepest condolences to Dorothy's family. We are honoured to have known her.

Scotlands People

Over the past two weeks, our research focus has been the National Records of Scotland (Scotlands People) https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.

Although we researched Scotlands People in its early days, we recognised that there is now a lot more records. We found:

  • Birth Registrations -     24 PASKs, 4 PASKEs
  • Marriage Registrations -  45 PASKs, 1 PASKE, and 1 PAASKEs
  • Death Registrations - 17 PASKs, 3 PASKEs, and 1 PAASKE
  • Divorce - 5 PASKs
  • Electoral Roll (available at FindmyPast) - 24 PASKs, 4 PASKEs
Whilst, we have not been able to identify all those listed, we have updated a lot of narratives relating to the PASK(E)s and their families, who lived in Scotland for part of their lives.

We also identified another non-UK based family:

Rudolph Harald PAASKE lived in Copenhagen, Denmark in the 1850s #20127
Rudolph Harald PAASKE lived in Copenhagen, Denmark. His son Viktor Emanuel PAASK lived with his wife Elizabeth, and their family in Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.

This information has been included in the website update yesterday, Friday 14 July 2017.

24 new narratives have been added, and 42 narratives updated, since the last website update on 1 July. There are now a total of 12,165 detailed narratives available on the website and 19,555 people (30 new) people in our database.
