Website Update 31 March 2021

37 new narratives have been added, and 74 changed, since the last website update on 2 March. There are now a total of 13,454 detailed narratives available on the website and 21,299 people (55 new) in our database.

The focus in March has been the PASKs of Monmouthshire - Chart 04.

In June 2008, Paula Payne, Pat Maybrey, and Sylvia Rycroft provided a wealth of information, including photographs, certificates, and anecdotes on these Monmouthshire families, and the descendants of Isaac Pask. The outcome was a 268 page book. For more details on this book, and how to purchase it, can be found at http://pask.org.uk/Pask_Publications.htm.

A significant amount of new, or updated, genealogical records have become available since 2008, including:

  • 1911 Census: Taken on 2 April 1911, additional information is the number of children born to a mother, and whether those children are alive, or dead.
  • GRO Online Index: Available free at https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp. Births prior to 1911 now provide the full name, and the mother's maiden name - a significant help in identifying families.
  • 1939 Register: The 1939 Register was like a ‘census’ and taken on 29 September 1939 just after the outbreak of war. It was then used to issue identify cards, and subsequently ration cards. Those people born after 1915 (and less than 100 years old), and had not died after 1991 are ‘redacted’. Their information is blanked out, until it is proved that they died (by providing an official death certificate), or their birthdate deems them over 100 years.
  • Probate Register:  Available free at https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills. This provides actual dates of death, and probate, from 1858 to current date.

Wherever possible, these four main sources have been included in these latest updates.

The website changes relate to the following surnames:
PASK, PASKE,
ANDREWS, ATTEWELL, BAKER, BOWYER, BUNCE,
COWELL, CULLIFORD, DAVIES, DOWELL, DYTE,
EMBREY, FARR, FITCH, GOODACRE, GRADY,

HUMPHREY, JONES, KNIGHT, LEWIS, LODGE,

Website Update February 3, 2021

46 new narratives have been added, and 81 changed, since the last website update on 2 December. There are now a total of 13,382 detailed narratives available on the website and 21,200 people (66 new) in our database.

The focus of this update was as a result of receiving several interesting, and informative, emails from Mike and Carol Fleetwood, who live in Kilgwrrwg, Monmouthshire. Whilst they are not related, they have kindly provided a lot of information on the PASKs who lived in this area, together with photographs and images. This concurs with the PASKs of Monmouthshire Volume 1 book we compiled in June 2008. Since then a lot of new information is now available, and has been included in this update.

In addition, there are several updates relating to the following charts/family groups:

Moulds Family of Old Somerby, Lincolnshire

Recent website updates have been mainly focused on the descendants of William MOULDS, (c1710-1774), Stuart's 5th great-grandfather, who lived in Little Ponton, Lincolnshire.

Stuart's 4th great-uncle, married Mary Sharman on 15 May 1813 in St. Mary Magdalene's Church, Somerby. They subsequently had eight children, seven of which were baptised in St. Mary Magdalene's Church in Somerby.

Stuart had previously visited the churchyard on 17 June 2009, and was accompanied by numerous chickens. See the photograph album at https://goo.gl/photos/7KuyU2qX3fBmGHtX9

A couple of weeks ago, we decided to visit the church again. We had an extremely enjoyable visit. Fortunately, the church was open and we were able to see the outstanding features, which date back to 1140. See the photograph album at http://photos.app.goo.gl/YDJtegf4RfFU41j27

Inside the church was a visitors book, and when scrolling through the pages we noticed that there was a yearly family gathering of the Moulds family. Several had included their names, one in particular, Barbara, had included her email address. Subsequently, during the following week we exchanged emails and have considerably expanded the information on the UK Moulds descendants. Barbara is Stuart's fifth cousin, and extremely interested in family history - so do look on the website, and find the people who lived in Somerby (near Grantham), Lincolnshire.

Website Update 2 September 2018 - Now Available

The website was updated 2 September 2018. However, due to the issues with website, I could not display the update. That has now been resolved - you may need to refresh your browser.

26 new narratives have been added, and 123 changed, since the last website update on 19 August 2018. There are now a total of 12,509 detailed narratives available on the website and 20,071 people (24 new) in our database.

There was a problem with the availability of the website since the last website update. This was due to the domain requiring changes to the site hosting. This has now been completed, and hopefully the website will not experience any further problems.

The focus of this website update was the Lincolnshire family of Henry PASK, and Elizabeth ASMAN, kindly provided by P. Bruce Stephenson. Several of their children immigrated to America in 1872, and settled in Orleans County, New York State. Whilst this family was detailed by the late Shirley Julie Amos née Pask in 2012, it was unbelievable how much new information has become available. For this website update, the focus was on page 7 of Shirley's Family Booklet of Henry and Elizabeth Pask of Lincolnshire. We plan to update other pages in future website updates.

In addition, Michael Neal provided valuable 1939 Register updates on the descendants of Walter and Rosetta PASK née RIXON.

Sincere thanks to all concerned with this latest website update.

Website Update 19 August 2018

The website was updated 19 August 2018.

131 new narratives have been added, and 50 changed, since the last website update on 14 March 2018. There are now a total of 12,483 detailed narratives available on the website and 20,047 people (176 new) in our database.

Unfortunately, this has been a long time coming. In April, and May, we experienced significant problems as our website host (for over 10 years) was taken over, and the new host took a long time to transfer the files across.

Furthermore, simultaneously, we had major problems with the Windows 10 update, and lost all the data. Fortunately, we have a lot of backups and managed to overcome the initial issues. Then in June, another Windows 10 update to rectify the problems with the previous update, completely destroyed the computer. We then had to purchase a new computer and again reinstate all the files. Fortunately, everything is finally back to normal.

Sincere thanks to all concerned with this latest website update.
