William Partington Pask (1853-1939)

William Partington Pask was born in 1853 in Great Crosby, Lancashire, England. He was the son of Thomas and Sarah Pask née Partington.

After the death of his parents, William lived with his step-parents in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. When he was 11 years old, he had an argument with his step-parents which resulted in him signing up on a ship travelling to Australia as a cabin boy.

William married Margaret Rosina Webster Stewart c1878 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. They went on to have ten children. Eight of them are included in this photograph, taken in 1899. For more details see http://pask.org.uk/Pask-p/e2834.htm.

Recently, we have been in touch with Patricia Murphy, the granddaughter of William and Mary's daughter Agnes Kinsey née Pask. Patricia has kindly provided the above family photograph, together with extensive information on Agnes, and her siblings, and their descendants. This information has been included in the website update on 12 April 2020.

Sincere thanks to Patricia for her wealth of information, and numerous photographs from her Stewart Family Tree available on Ancestry.

Website Update 2 September 2018 - Now Available

The website was updated 2 September 2018. However, due to the issues with website, I could not display the update. That has now been resolved - you may need to refresh your browser.

26 new narratives have been added, and 123 changed, since the last website update on 19 August 2018. There are now a total of 12,509 detailed narratives available on the website and 20,071 people (24 new) in our database.

There was a problem with the availability of the website since the last website update. This was due to the domain requiring changes to the site hosting. This has now been completed, and hopefully the website will not experience any further problems.

The focus of this website update was the Lincolnshire family of Henry PASK, and Elizabeth ASMAN, kindly provided by P. Bruce Stephenson. Several of their children immigrated to America in 1872, and settled in Orleans County, New York State. Whilst this family was detailed by the late Shirley Julie Amos née Pask in 2012, it was unbelievable how much new information has become available. For this website update, the focus was on page 7 of Shirley's Family Booklet of Henry and Elizabeth Pask of Lincolnshire. We plan to update other pages in future website updates.

In addition, Michael Neal provided valuable 1939 Register updates on the descendants of Walter and Rosetta PASK née RIXON.

Sincere thanks to all concerned with this latest website update.

Descendants of William Partington Pask

This information relates to Chart 14, the descendants of William Pask, (1791 - 1874) Caythorpe, Lincolnshire.

William Partington Pask (1853-1839)
We were contacted by George & Jan Harlow née Pask, from Queensland Australia. They advised that Jan's grandfather was William Partington Pask who left Liverpool after an argument with his stepfather and stepmother in Liverpool at the Eagle Vault Hotel and signed on a ship travelling to Australia as a cabin boy. After many experiences he married and settled at the Kirk River, west of the coastal town of Townsville, North Queensland.

William married Margaret Rosina Webster STEWART, and they had ten children.

We have done some extensive research, particularly in the Trove Digitized Newspapers website, which has provided a wealth of information on this Townsville family. This information will be included in the next website update.

George & Jan also provided us with ten photographs relating to the family, and their descendants. The photographs are priceless, and have been included in a Picasa Web Album

Sincere thanks for George & Jan contacting us and providing us with this very interesting insight into life in Australia in the early 20th century.

Sidney Robert B. Pask (1906-1980)

This information relates to Chart 14, the descendants of William Pask, (1791 - 1874) Caythorpe, Lincolnshire.

Further to the previous blog titled Sidney Robert B. Pask (1906-1980), I am delighted to say that during my search of the Scottish births, marriages, and deaths on the Scotland Peoples website, I found the elusive marriage certificate for Sidney Robert Brown Pask.

He married on 26 December 1929 in St. Peters Church Edinburgh to Catherine Dewar Henderson, who was also a School Teacher. Based on this information, their daughter is probably Marjorie who was born in 1937 in the Hendon registration district, and possibly married in 1960 in the St. Albans registration district. Further investigation is required.

This information will be included in the next website update.

Will of Thomas Charles Pask

This information relates to Chart 14, the descendants of William Pask (1791-84) who lived in Caythorpe, Lincolnshire.

Paula Payne wrote to me yesterday and advised that Cheshire County Council now have a Wills Database Online, also Wiltshire & Swindon Archives.

The Cheshire search found Thomas Charles Pask of Hoylake, a Chemist who died in 1921. He was the son of Thomas & Sarah Pask née Partington, who orginated from Lincolnshire. He married Isabella Graham in 1885 in the Hoylake registration district. Isabella died in 1912.

Many thanks for these links Paula. This information will be included in the next website update.

Sidney Robert B. Pask (1906-1980)

This information relates to Chart 14, the descendants of William PASK, (1791 - 1874) Caythorpe, Lincolnshire.

Dick Quinell wrote to us yesterday regarding Sidney Robert B. Pask.

He writes:

Sid was the absolutely inspirational biology teacher of genius who taught me and many others biology at St Paul's School between 1928 and 1966 (I was of the 1956-59 vintage) - among his many, many distinguished students, several of whom have written of him in books and periodicals with deep affection and admiration, are Sir Jonathan Miller, Oliver Sacks, Lord Robert Winston, Lord Ian McColl, Sir David Smith, Prof. Harold Preiskel, Dr. Barry Cox - the list goes on and on. We are organising an affinity group - while we're all still alive - to include as many alumni of Sid's as we can find, to exchange reminiscences, and most importantly, to form the nucleus of an endowment for a long-overdue memorial to Sid - possibly a biology laboratory at St Paul's, which is undergoing extensive redevelopment in the near future.

What a tribute to obviously a very gifted and dedicated person. If anyone can help Dick, he is particularly anxious to contact Sid's daughter.
