Descendants of Hezekiah & Sarah Pasque née Bentley

In September, Susan Keefe provided a lot of information on a Pasque family who lived in the London area. The earliest records are for Hezekiah & Sarah Pasque née Bentley. They had eight known children:

6. Nathaniel Pasque b. 9 Nov 1809
7. Joseph Everet Pasque b. 18 Aug 1813, d. 1873
8. William Pasque b. 13 Jul 1815, d. 17 Apr 1816

Susan found this information in www.familysearch.org, and substantiated it with census records. I am currently including this information in the database and supplementing where possible with the GRO indexes and other information found. This will be available in the next website update. Descendants of Thomas & Ann Scott née Pask

Another very long overdue update has been made relating to the descendants of Thomas & Ann Scott née Pask. Malcolm Scott wrote to us in August, and provided extensive information on Thomas & Ann's children:

• Henry Scott Pask, who married Elizabeth Reek on 13th December 1852 at East Allington
• William Scott, baptised 26th June 1834 at East Allington. He married Elizabeth Burton from Great Ponton
• John Scott, baptised 18th March 1836 at East Allington who was buried 6 December 1837
• John Scott, baptised 10th February 1838 at East Allington
• Harriet Scott, baptised 28th March 1840 at East Allington who married William Stancer
• Charlotte Scott, baptised 6th February 1842 at East Allington who married Charles Langley on 6th June 1870 at East Allington
• Thomas Scott, baptised 17th August 1845 at East Allington who married Mary Cragg ln 14th May 1868 at East Allington
• Richard Scott, baptised 18th April 1848 at East Allington who married Harriet Knight on 16th May 1867 at East Allington
• George Scott, baptised 10th April 1850 at East Allington who married Harriet Kirkham from Radcliffe, Notts

Descendants of John & Emily Bentley née Pask

Whilst in Galway, I have been trying to catch up with some correspondence received in July & August! Tracy Bentley wrote to me in July and updated me on information she had on her great-great grandparents John & Emily Bentley née Pask.

Tracy has provided some additional information on Emily's son Frederick George who married Ada Maria Planner. Frederick & Ada immigrated to Canada. Tracy originally believed that Emily's son John Bentley married Eleanor Sibley, and also went to Canada. This has proved to be incorrect. The corrections have been made to the database.

In addition, Tracy provided information on Walter Bentley, Emily's youngest son, who married Jane Blake and they had four children - Rose, Florence Emily, Sydney George and Frederick William (Tracy's grandfather).

William Pask born c1860

Chris Bell, is trying to find the birth of her great-grandfather William Pask, who married Grace Isabella Solomon. William died on 31 May 1914 in The Johnson Hospital, Spalding, Lincolnshire at the age of 54.

Chris purchased the birth certificate of William Pask who was born in the Southwell Registration District, Nottingham. His parents were Henry & Matilda Pask née Edlin. Matilda is believed to have died in 1864 in the Southwell registration district. This needs further research as neither William, or his father Henry can be currently found in the subsequent censuses.

Many thanks to Chris for providing the birth certificate. It has provided several missing links that connect the family of Henry and Matilda.

Charles Henry & Emily Sarah Elizabeth Archer née Pask

In August, through Genes Reunited, I contacted Raymond Archer.

He provided the marriage certificate for Emily Sarah Elizabeth Pask and Charles Henry Archer who married in 1904 in Hackney. The marriage unfortunately did not work, and Raymond wrote that family legend says that Emily and a child emigrated to Australia.

Raymond continued to research for the unknown child. In September, he kindly provided a copy of the birth certificate of John Frederick Archer, who was born on 18 December 1905, and died in 1958 in Adelaide, Australia.

Bury St. Edmunds Marriages

A couple of weeks ago I received two marriage certificates, provided by Sandra Stevens as part of the Bury St. Edmunds Registration District Marriage Challenge.The Marriage Challenge is a Guild of One-Name Studies (GOONS) Project in which volunteers (Challengers) search for marriage entries in the deposited Parish Registers for a particular Registration District for the period 1837 to 1911. Sandra kindly provided two additional marriages from outside of this period:

• William John Pask and Ada Mary Boggis - 8 April 1912
• William Ernest Pask and Alice Legg - 24 November 1917

Sandra has previously provided a considerable number of Pask marriage transcripts. Last December we received 48 from the Risbridge Registration District as an early Christmas present. This information will be included in the next website update.

Limited Access to E-Mails

I am going away on business to Galway Ireland for the next few weeks. Stuart is holding the fort back at home. From previous experience, I will have limited access to e-mails. So apologies in advance if it takes a little longer to reply. Nevertheless keep sending me updates, as I will have my laptop with me, and able to work on the information.

Update on William John & Harriet Pask née Rolfe

As detailed in the previous blog William John & Harriet Pask née Rolfe, Annette, the wife of George Charles Pask has provided a lot of information, particularly specific dates. This information covers families in Brentford, Windsor, Bracknell, and Toronto and Vancouver in Canada.

Parsk and Parsque Marriages & Deaths

As a follow on from the previous post Pasque, Parsk & Parsque Births, I have now extracted all the births, marriages, and deaths from www.freebmd.org.uk. I have verified all the information against the original images. In the marriages, I have also researched, wherever possible, to establish the spouse.

The database now contains the following Parsk & Parsque entries:

Several of the marriages were Pask(e) marriages previously not found in the GRO indexes.

My next task is to update the Guild of One-Name Studies archive. Also to incorporate all the information that Valerie Francis has provided, including some additional information she provided in an e-mail today.

Pasque, Parsk & Parsque Births

In August, Valerie Francis wrote to us and provided quite a lot of information on the families with the names Pasque, Parsk, and Parsque. Valerie wrote again yesterday and provided more names. This prompted me to do some investigations of my own.

These variants seem to be focused in the Rochford and Wangford registration district in Essex, and Blything in Suffolk, obviously where probably the dialect accounts for the difference in spelling.

This morning I searched www.freebmd.org.uk and found 22 of 29 births that we have not yet listed in our GRO Births Index (these are searchable from the website in the data sources section). I am in the process of looking at the GRO images and verifying the information listed in FreeBMD. I will then update the GRO Births archive.

Thomas & Martha Pask of St. Pancras

As mentioned in the previous blog Ellen Pask née Levy or Villiers, during the past few days, together with John Morton Cross, we have been researching James Pask.

We knew, from the Family Register, that he was born on 22 November 1813. In the censuses he stated he was born in Bloomsbury, London. We searched the 1841 census, and found him living in Queen Street, St. Pancras, assumed to be living with his parents Thomas & Martha Pask. Also listed was Sarah Pask, assumed to be their daughter.

On searching the GRO marriage index and www.familysearch.org, I found that Sarah married a William Willis on 3 February 1845 in Old Church, St. Pancras, London. This was the same church as James and Ellen married at on 22 September 1841. I then searched for Sarah Willis in the 1851 census, and found them living in 20 Stanmore Street, St. Pancras. William was listed as a Painter, living with his wife Sarah. Also listed was a visitor [Mother-in-law] Martha Pask.

Martha was a widow, so therefore it is assumed that Thomas died between 1841 and 1851. Martha died in 1855 in the St. Pancras registration district. I did not locate Sarah & William Willis in the 1861 census, however in the 1871 census they were living in Moss Side, Lancashire. In the same town as James' daughter and son-in-law Adolphus Tesdorpf & Amy Lee Forrest née Pask.

Interestingly enough when I was including the 1851 census information in the database I noted that another family was listed literally only 20 pages before at 13 Aldenham Terrace, St. Pancras (HO107 Piece 1496 Folio 891 Page 48). Henry Pask was listed as aged 41 born in St. Pancras, the Head of Household a Master Painter employing 2 men, living with his wife Elizabeth and children Marie, Caroline, Louisa, and Henry.

I then searched for the Henry in the 1841 census, and found him living in Stanmore Street, St. Pancras (the street where Sarah & William Willis lived, together with Martha in 1851). Henry was listed as aged 30, the Head of Household; a Painter, assumed to be living with his wife Eliza [Elizabeth]. In the 1871 & 1881 censuses, Henry gives his place of birth as Bloomsbury in 1810 (the same place as James who was born in 1813). It is fair to assume that Henry and James are probably the sons of Thomas & Martha Pask. Although obviously further verification is required.

This information has been included in the database, and will be subsequently included in the next website update.

Ellen Pask née Levy or Villiers

During the past few days, together with John Morton Cross, I have been researching the ancestors of Amy Lee Forrest née Pask.

As detailed in the previous blog, Adolphus Tesdorpf & Amy Lee Forrest née Pask a Family Register details the descendants of James Pask and his wife Ellen Villiers, also known as Levy. For some time John has been trying to establish why Ellen changed her name from Levy.

When James and Ellen married on 22 September 1841 in Old Church, St. Pancras, her name was Levy. On their son Isaac's birth certificate it gives her name as Levy. However on the Family Register, and the remainder of their children's birth certificates it gives her name as Villiers.

We have gathered quite a bit more information about the family, but remain still mystified on why Ellen changed her name.

William John & Harriet Pask née Rolfe

Annette, the wife of George Charles Pask contacted us yesterday. George is the grandson of William John & Harriet Pask née Rolfe.

Annette has provided several missing links that relates to:

• Matilda Gertrude Rose Pask
• Dorothy Maud Pask b1905 who married Stanley Pearson
• William Ernest Pask 1907-1967 who married Lilian Beatrice Delahay, and their children Joyce, Maureen, Oliver, and George Charles
• Walter Pask b1910

They are all descendants of John & Mirabel Pask née Sparrow, and yet again this extends John & Mirabel's family chart.
