Richard & Frances Amelia Pask née Meatyard

Last week I wrote to Caroline Meatyard, who is conducting a One-Name Study in the surname Meatyard. As detailed in the blog West Derby Registration District Marriages, Richard Pask and Frances Amelia Meatyard married on 18 August 1851.

Caroline provided comprehensive information on Frances Amelia Meatyard. Unfortunately Richard died at the young age of 22 years in 1855 in the West Derby registration district. Initially I could not find a remarriage, or death of Frances.

Over the weekend, when I attended the GOONS Computer Seminar, John Hanson in his presentation on The Family Historian mentioned the UKBMD Project, particularly for Lancashire BMDs. This project has transcribed the local register copies. I checked it out and found the marriage of Frances A. Pask to Samuel Abbott in 1859. Surprisingly enough the marriage in the GRO Index is indexed under the name Frances Amelia PARK.

I was then able to find them in the 1861 census living in Knight Street, Mount Pleasant, Liverpool.

Caroline advised that by the late 1860s Frances & Samuel Abbott had immigrated and were living in Victoria, Australia and had a daughter, Ellen Gertie Abbott born around 1874 in South Melbourne.

This information has been included in the database, and will be updated in the next website update.
