264 new narratives have been added since the last update on 3 June 2016. These changes relate to the following surnames:

• Chart 49 Indented Chart: Unknown PASK (c1695-) who lived in Dingestow, and Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire
  Chart 42 is now merged with Chart 49, as a result of DNA testing.

There is a total of 18,964 (92 new) people in our database.

Website Update Sunday 30 August 2015

The website was updated yesterday, Sunday 30 August 2015.

108 new narratives have been added since the last update on 1 June 2015. There is now a total of 11,004 detailed narratives available on the website and 17,957 (214 new) people in our database.

This update includes additional information on families in Suffolk (Chart 6), Lincolnshire (Chart 11), and Monmouthshire (Chart 42).

A full list of the recent changes to the narratives is available in the New or Changed Narratives section.

In addition, there have been some structural changes to the menus.

Indices menu is now a combination of sub-menus of:

• Master Index
• Master Place Index
• Surname Index
• Unknown Families - this is new and highlights families not yet assigned to a major family groups

Family Charts now contains all Family charts with sub-menus for counties / non-UK.

This is a new menu, with several sub-menus, focusing on photographs kindly provided by other researchers:

Link between Chart 42 and Chart 01

This information relates to the descendants of William Pask (c1720- ) who lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire.

This information relates to the main Lincolnshire tree - descendants of Johannis [John] and Elizabeth Pask née Archer, who lived in Lincolnshire.

Last week we had some exciting, and mind-blowing news. There is probably a link between Chart 42 Monmouthshire, and Chart 01 Lincolnshire.

We were investigating Stuart's DNA Family Finder (Autosomal) results, and realised that there was a match with someone who is a descendant of Caroline Amelia Paske, from Family Chart 42 of Monmouthshire. Whilst the relationship is distant - perhaps 8th or 10th cousin, it indicates that probably their common ancestor William Pask c1720 originated from Lincolnshire, and was not linked to the other Monmouthshire families.

We are currently including the descendants of Caroline Amelia into the Pask database. She married Robert Henry Silvester in 1871. Currently their four children are not included. We hope to have them, and their 60+ descendants included in the next website update.

In the meantime, we appeal to anyone in Family Chart 42 with a living PASK(E) male to persuade them to take a Y-DNA test. We have several matching test results in Family Chart 01, but no one has taken a Y-DNA test in Family Chart 42.

Alternatively, if any females in Family Chart 42 would like to take a Family Finder test, this would provide us with more indicators that there is a definite link between Family Chart 01, and Family Chart 42.

Website Update 19 September 2014

The website was updated today, Friday 19 September. There are an additional 52 narratives included in this update.

The main focus was the Monmouthshire Pask(e)s: 
Chart 49: Charles Pask (1760-1833) who lived in Dingestow, and Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire, and
Chart 42: William Pask (c1720- ) who lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire, and 
Chart 58: Charles PASK (c1650-1726) who lived and died in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire.  

Using Monmouthshire Wills, as detailed in the previous blog, additional people were identified, and links between families established.

There is still some outstanding information from the wills. Hopefully, this will be included in the foreseeable future.

New Monmouthshire Family Chart 58

This information relates to the Pask(e)s of Monmouthshire:
  Chart 49: Charles Pask (1760-1833) who lived in Dingestow, and Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire, and

Chart 42: William Pask (c1720- ) who lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire, and 

Chart 58: Charles PASK (c1650-1726) who lived and died in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire.

Since the last website update we have worked extensively on finding documental evidence of the connection between the Pask(e) families who lived in Monmouthshire. This has involved looking at the Llandaff Probate Records 1568-1857, as detailed in the previous blog Monmouthshire Pask(e) Wills. In addition, the Monmouthshire collection Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, now available at FindMyPast, have helped considerably.

As a result we have identified an additional family that has been linked together into Chart 58. This is anticipated to be a temporary chart. Hopefully we will find links to the other Monmouthshire charts in the foreseeable future.

A website update is imminient, which will include all our recent findings. However, this is far from the 'complete' picture.

Monmouthshire PASK(E) Wills

This information relates to
  Chart 49: Charles Pask (1760-1833) who lived in Dingestow, and Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire, and
Chart 42: William Pask (c1720- ) who lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire

In an endeavour to find documental evidence of the connection between the Pask(e) families who lived in Monmouthshire, we have been looking at the Llandaff Probate Records 1568-1857, available at the National Library of Wales.

This was a very positive search, and the images of the wills of 13 Pask(e)s are available on the National Library of Wales website, in the wills section. In date order they are:

Website Updated 4 April 2014

The website was updated yesterday evening. 83 new narratives have been added since the last update on 1 January. This makes a total of 10,086 detailed narratives now available on the website - although altogether there was an increase of 204 people, including living people, making a total of 16,527 people in our database.

The focus of the update was Family Chart 09: John PASKE, was a Yeoman of Stradishall, Suffolk (d1577 ). There are currently 242 descendants, with their spouses, within this family group. There were several members of the clergy, based in Creeting St. Peter, Suffolk. Additionally there were several military personnel based in the Crimea, and India. Whilst we have been researching this family for some considerable time, the recent release by FindMyPast of the British India Office Collection has significant increased our knowledge of this family.

There were also a few updates on the PASKEs of Monmouthshire in Family Groups 42, and 49.

Website Update Wednesday 1 January 2014

Happy New Year to all our followers.

The website was updated today, Wednesday 1 January. The focus of this update was information, and photographs, on the descendants of George William & Elizabeth Martha Pask née Butler kindly provided by their grandson, Bernard C. Pask of Belgium, and their grand-daughter Jan Ellam née Pask.

There are now over 10,000+ narratives on the website!
There were 23 new, and 36 changed narratives, since the last update on 20 December.

Descendants of Charles Herbert & Marjorie Alice Paske née Signs

This information relates to the descendants of William Pask (c1720- ) who lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire.

Kareen Frances Bennett née Pask

Sadly today we were notified of the death of Kareen Frances Bennett née Paske, the granddaughter of Charles Herbert & Marjorie Alice Paske née Signs.


Kareen, known as Kari, was born in Anchorage, Alaska on July 1 1970, and died on May 7, 2013. More information is available in her Obituary.

Kareen was the sister of Jennifer Helen Paske, who was born on August 7, 1972 and died on January 16, 2009. More information is available in her Obituary.

Jennifer Helen Paske

Kareen, and Jennifer's 2 x great-grandfather William Joliffe Paske, together with his first wife Emily, originally immigrated to America in 1886. Shortly afterwards Emily died, and William remarried Ida Olive Kline in 1888 in Norfolk, Madison County, Nebraska where they raised 3 sons in the early 1890s. William was born in Bristol, in England although the family originated from Monmouthshire.

Our thoughts are with the families.

William Jolliffe Paske

This information relates to the descendants of William Pask (c1720- ) who lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire.

Katrina Jordan has provided us additional information on the family of her 1st Cousin 4 times removed William Jolliffe Paske.

William Jolliffe PASKE was born on 5 May 1863 in Bristol. He was the son of William & Fanny Paske née Jolliffee. He married Emily Bevan, and they emigrated in 1886 to America, and he became a Minister. 

William then married Ida Olive Kline in 1888 in Nebraska. They then moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin, and East Norriton in Pennyslvania, and finally Altadena in Los Angeles where he died at the age of 80.

William and Ida had three children:

• Ralph William Paske b. 4 Jul 1889, d. 11 Dec 1943
• Charles Herbert Paske b. 2 Dec 1890, d. May 1973
• Oliver Wendall Paske b. 9 Dec 1893, d. 10 May 1935

We are in the process of including this family into our database. It would be great to hear from any of our American cousins.

Descendants of Christopher Harold Paske (1906-1984)

This information relates to the descendants of William Pask (c1720- ) who lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire.

Katrina Jordan contacted us, and provided extensive information on the descendants of Christopher Harold Paske who lived in Torquay, Devon. In particular his eldest daughter Pauline, Katrina's grandmother, who has ten children, 30 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren. 

Katrina's information has been included in our Pask database, however as most of it relates to living people, the family chart shows only the names.

Pasks of Monmouthshire

This information relates to the Monmouthshire progenitor Isaac Paske, (c1705 - ) who lived in Llanvihangel-ystern-Llewern, Monmouthshire. Also it refers to
William Pask (c1720- ) who lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire.

Yesterday, Sylvia Rycroft updated us on her latest trip to Monmouthshire to research the parish records at the Gwent RO. Sylvia also purchased all the remaining Paske Wills.

As a consequence, the wills have thrown up some interesting information on various Monmouthshire families. From these wills she has established, changes to the following:

• Charles Pask, who married Rachel Morgan, and lived in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire in the 1800s has now been linked back to William & Mary Pask née ?
• William Paske, who married Ann Jones, was previously thought to be the son of Isaac & Rachael Paske née Hugh is now the son of William & Mary Pask née ?

The wills have also enabled Sylvia to piece together some of the other Paske families, but not to absolutely reveal where they fitted within the wider family group. There are still some pieces missing from the jigsaw and they may never be found because the records do not exist.

So if you are a descendant of the Pasks of Monmouthshire, check out the revised Monmouthshire Main Progenitor: Isaac PASK, (c1705 - ) lived in Llanvihangel-ystern-Llewern, Monmouthshire #3687 (Chart 4), and Chart 42: William PASK (c1720- ) lived in Cwmcarvan, Monmouthshire #10869, as there has been a reassignment of several families.

The PASKs of Monmouthshire book will be revised after the Pask Family Gathering. However, we are working on the charts and these will be on display on the day.

With so many Williams born in the period, and living in the same area, it is no wonder that the wrong assumptions have been made.
